Progress in tackling ‘worst section of road in Mayo’
Efforts are being made to secure funding for the project.
It is hoped that funding will be approved to carry out essential works on the ‘worst section of road in Mayo.’
Cllr Michael Loftus has persistently raised the issue of the R315 road at Castlehill, located between Lahardane and Crossmolina.
The Crossmolina-based councillor has issued an update on efforts to address the road.
“Since my election to Mayo County Council in 2014, I have consistently worked to secure improvements to the R315 at Castlehill, which I believe is the worst section of road in Mayo. Through my sustained engagement and pressure on the Council and community lobbying, a new road improvement scheme has now been designed,” said Cllr Loftus.
The next step is securing the necessary funding for the project.
“The project is progressing and will be submitted to the Department of Transport for funding approval. The next crucial step is securing the necessary funding, and it is now incumbent on our Oireachtas members to work together to ensure that this vital road receives the financial support it needs. I would call on people to lobby their Oireachtas members.
“The many people who use the R315 deserve a safe, modern road, and I will continue to work in the Council until this long-awaited improvement is delivered,” said Cllr Loftus.
