Probe into flooding issue in Westport

Engineers from Mayo County Council are currently reviewing sites along a side road at Belclare in Westport where fields have been subject to severe flooding during periods of high rainfall. 

Cllr Chris Maxwell raised the matter at the recent meeting of Westport-Belmullet Municipal District, saying that while the water level is currently low, it is important that the flooding issue be dealt with at the site. 

Area Engineer Heather Gibbons confirmed that council engineers are currently reviewing the sites.
