Popular Mayo music festival will not go ahead this year

The Killala Live Festival will not proceed this year after the existing stepped down, having run the event successfully for a number of year

A popular north Mayo music festival will not go ahead this year after the committee who ran the event stepped down and a new committee did not emerge.

Organisers have announced that the Killala Live Festival will not proceed this year.

The committee sought to elect new members for a committee ahead of the 2024 event but no new members were picked at a recent public meeting.

Local councillor Jarlath Munnelly said he hoped there is still time to get a committee together to stage the event this year.

“The people who ran the Killala Live Festival for the last couple of years did a fantastic job but hopefully there will be an opportunity for someone to step in and run the festival, it was great for Killala,” he said.

The Killala Live Festival attracted headline acts such as Patrick Feeney and the Tumbling Paddies in recent years.
