Plans for Mayo Homecoming Day 4

The fourth and final day of the official homecoming will see the Mayo team travel to Claremorris and Ballaghaderreen.

The fourth and final leg of Mayo’s Sam Maguire Homecoming Tour takes place today.

Claremorris, Charlestown, and Ballaghaderreen will play host to the All-Ireland champs.

The homecoming event in Claremorris takes place on the club’s GAA pitch with gates open at 2pm. The Mayo team is expected to arrive in the South Mayo town at 4pm.

There will be only two points of entry to the Claremorris GAA grounds. The main gate, adjacent to Hillside Service Station as well as the laneway next to Electric Skyline (next to Tennis Club.) Please note there will be no access to the Public via the carpark to the side of Heffernan’s Foodstore, the club stated.

Gardai have advised that traffic disruption is anticipated in Claremorris from early this afternoon. No parking is permitted in the ground and restrictions will apply on approach roads. Free parking is available throughout Claremorris town.

Supporters are asked to arrive early, and follow the directions of Gardaí and event stewards. Provision will be made for drivers with disabled parking badges.

The team is expected in Charlestown at around 5.30pm. With a homecoming planned on Barrack Street in the town. The street will be closed to all traffic from 3pm.

Ballaghaderreen will then welcome Andy and the boys home.

The celebrations begin in The Square from 5pm with live music before and after the team’s arrival.

The players’ arrival is expected at approximately 7pm.

Road closures will be place from 2pm with The Square closed to all traffic; Sligo Road closed at Cathedral Car Park; Dublin Road closed at the end of Barrack Street; Main Street closed at Brian Mulligan’s There is no parking in the town centre from early afternoon tomorrow and carpooling is advised where possible.

Attendees are asking to allow extra time for their journey.
