Planning granted for Western Care project in Ballina

Mayo County Council have granted planning permission for the demolition and subsequent redevelopment of a derelict building in Ballina to become six modern, assisted residential dwellings.
The local authority granted planning permission to the Western Care Association for the demolition of the derelict buildings and anciliary structures located on the site at Plunkett Road, Ballina to make way for a new purpose-built living spaces for individuals supported by Western Care.
The plan includes the construction of two detached three-bedroom three-storey residential units as well as the construction of a two-storey building comprising of four independent one-bedroom living units with staff support areas.
The proposal also includes permission for a new car parking area comprising five spaces, landscaping and site infrastructure works, as well as all ancillary works such as new connections to public water and wastewater services.
Western Care Association is a not-for-profit organisation providing supports to adults with intellectual disabilities or additional support needs across Mayo.
