Plan for Ballina’s Pawn Office Lane
One of Ballina's most unique features is its extensive network of lanes including Pawn Office Lane (pictured) which links Pearse and Emmet streets.
Mayo County Council is hoping to devise a scheme to discourage cars from blocking a Ballina lane.
In response to a query from Cllr Michael Loftus regarding the provision of double yellow lines to discourage parking along Pawn Office Lane, engineer Orla Bourke told a meeting of Ballina Municipal District that the council is hoping to introduce a scheme and then seek funding for works.
“It is not suitable for parking but we need a self-regulating street, not just double yellow lines,” she said.
Ms Bourke added there was interest from the Cascade, who revitalised O’Hora’s Lane this year, in carrying out a project along Pawn Office Lane.
