Oasis ties to Mayo explained as excitement builds for Slane shows

Oasis announced a new international tour taking them to 11 different locations including Slane Castle next year.
The Irish dates in September 2027, much like the successful shows in Croke Park in 2025, have generated much excitement due to the bands popularity and due to their Irish links, which include ties to county Mayo.
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher often make sure to spend time performing in Ireland as it’s their roots close to home.
The Gallagher’s family background is specifically connected to Co Mayo, as their mother, Peggy, was born in Charlestown. â¯The boys often speak proudly of their heritage, despite being born and raised in Manchester.
Co-founder and rhythm guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs also has direct family ties to Mayo; his father Ben hails from Foxford.
Noel refers to himself as ‘half-Irish’, as their father was also born in Duleek, Co Meath. He and his brother used to take trips to Mayo when they were kids for the ‘Irish culture’. He remembers the fields, haystacks, and nettles being a culture shock compared to his city life, but ‘we grew up to love it, and we still do’.
When the brothers were in Ireland to perform at their sold-out Croke Park shows, fans were speculating that they might make an appearance in Charlestown. Unfortunately, there has been no sight of the brothers in Mayo in recent years, since Liam visited JJ Finan’s pub on Main Street in July 2015. ⯠The brothers also keep up with GAA, especially in Mayo, as back in July, Liam congratulated the team on winning the Sam Maguire through a post on X. He stated he was very proud and to enjoy every second.
2027 might be the year the pair return to their roots, after performing in the renowned Slane Castle. The dates to keep in your calendar are September 4& 5th of next year. In addition, there will be no general sale this year, as fans will be selected at random through a ballot system if registered.
