'Missed by all' - tributes paid to Sligo RTÉ journalist Tommie Gorman

Former RTÉ journalist Tommie Gorman has passed away at the age of 68.
Gorman, who retired from RTÉ in 2021 after working with the company for more than 40 years, was a native of Sligo and will be remembered for his interviews with Gerry Adams, Roy Keane, Ian Paisley and Arlene Foster.
In a statement, Mr Gorman's family said: "Tommie was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend whose innate kindness and generosity of spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day."
Tributes have been paid to the journalist who also worked for the Ballina-based Western Journal.
One individual said: "Tommie Gorman was a counsellor, confessor, and friend. Spending time with him in his beloved Sligo was the greatest privilege. The kindest, wisest of men."
Another person added: "So sorry to hear of Tommie Gorman’s passing. Heard him give a beautiful address about his love of Sligo. His Roy Keane interview, as well as many others, are televisual history. May he rest in peace."
The League of Ireland also paid tribute following his death, remarking, "Everyone at the League of Ireland would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Tommie Gorman who has sadly passed away. A big Sligo Rovers supporter, Tommie will be missed by all and around The Showgrounds."
