Michael Ring T.D. has welcomed the allocation today, by Ireland’s new media regulator and media development agency, Coimisiún Na Meán, of €95,000 to Midwest Radio under the Sound & Vision 4 Broadcasting Funding Scheme.

The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD, made the funding available for this special round of the scheme, administered by Coimisiún na Meán.

Independent commercial radio stations can use this funding to produce programmes covering a range of topics of interest to their listeners. The Midwest Radio project name is “Media Insights and Community in Unity”.

“Midwest Radio is the mainstay of many households in this region and I am delighted that they have been awarded this funding which will enable to continue their work, for the benefit of their local audience. I wish the station continued success,” concluded Deputy Ring.
