The annual Mayo four-a-side dart tournament has raised over €11,700 for Western Care Association.

The tournament brought together 128 players, and the funds raised will support services in Claremorris and Castlebar.

Local players were joined by dart enthusiasts from outside the county as the Park Hotel in Kiltimagh hosted what is one of Mayo’s most anticipated annual events.

Spearheading the event were Martin Heneghan and Joe King, two of the founding members of the original organising committee. Their dedication ensured the tournament ran smoothly and upheld its tradition of excellence.

Anne Chambers, the interim CEO of Western Care Association, was in attendance and extended her thanks to all those involved. She said: “On behalf of Western Care Association, I extend our sincere thanks to the organisation committee, the volunteers, the sponsors, and every player who took part in the event. Your dedication and generosity made the occasion truly special. The funds raised will have a meaningful impact on the services provided in Castlebar and Claremorris.”

The winners of the Mayo four-a-side were the team of Dylan Dowling, Rachel McMahon, Vinnie Beattie and David Clarke.

The runners-up were Joe Foy, Tania McAreavey, Michael Roughneen and Jason Walsh. The captivating final finished 3-3 and was decided by the now infamous Duck Walk.

The beaten semi-finalists were Brendan McDonagh, Maureen Tiernan, Evan Canavan and Adam Cleary, while the second beaten semi-finalists were Barry Kilbane, Helen Kenny, Jamie Brady and Jack Duffy.

The highest finish in the men’s category was an excellent 152 finish by Dillon Kelly, while Rachel King won the ladies' award with a 101 finish.

In the ‘9 at 9’ competition, Jake Daly took the men's prize while Helen Malone took the ladies’ prize.
