Mayo Tidy Towns group 'heartbroken' after equipment stolen

A break-in at Ballina Tidy Towns stores last Tuesday has resulted in thousands of euros worth of equipment being stolen.

In a statement, the group said: "As you all know Ballina Tidy Towns is a charitable organisation whose sole purpose is to improve our town and make it a cleaner more beautiful place for the people of the town and it's hinterlands.

"Our dedicated team work tirelessly to maintain the areas around the town, cleaning, weeding, planting, watering and ensuring our town is a place to be proud of.

"As you can imagine this theft has left us heartbroken and will severely impact our ability to carry on the valuable work of our organisation.

"We have always truly appreciated the amazing support we have received from the people of the town and are reaching out to ask if anyone knows anything about this despicable crime please could they contact the Gards or if you prefer please message us here direct, all information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

"Also if any of you are offered, any of the following, Leaf Blowers, Strimmers, Hand Tools or any other gardening/outside work equipment please let us or the authorities know."
