Mayo councillors extend sympathy to bereaved local families

Members of Mayo County Council have extended votes of sympathy to two local families who lost family members recently.

Councillors passed a vote of sympathy at their meeting last week to the family of the late Tom Mullaney from Balla, who passed away recently.

Cllr Blackie Gavin said the young man's funeral was one of the largest ever in the county, as the family are known far and wide. Cllr Richard Finn said the deceased would be a great loss to the community and especially Claremorris Boxing Club.

Meanwhile, Cllr Annie May Reape expressed condolences to the Greavy family in Bonniconlon following the untimely passing of Fintan Greavy following an illness. Mr Greavy's late mother Bridie served as a member of Mayo County Council in the 1980s and his sister Siobhan is married to Minister Dara Calleary TD. Noting that Mr Greavy's death occurred just a few short months after the sudden passing of his mother, Cllr Reape extended a vote of sympathy to the Greavy family on their great loss.

The other councillors in attendance associated themselves with both votes of sympathy and extended their sympathies to the Mullaney and Greavy families.
