Mayo Independent candidate Saoirse McHugh has been eliminated from the Midlands North-West constituency after the 15th count.

After the 15th count, Independent Luke 'Ming' Flanagan maintains a lead of almost 15,000 Fine Gael’s Nina Carberry, but remains 18,011 votes off the quota.

No candidate has been elected so far.

Fine Gael’s Maria Walsh and Carberry, along with Fianna Fáil’s Barry Cowen look certain to secure a seat.

The distribution of the votes of independent candidate Peter Casey saw major gains for Mr Flanagan and Ciaran Mullooly of Independent Ireland with Mulooly extending his lead for the fifth and final seat.
