Man airlifted after quad accident in Mayo

A man had to be airlifted to hospital following a quad bike accident on rough terrain near Lisacarney, Westport.

Mayo Mountain Rescue were drafted in to assist in the rescue of the man on Thursday.

Responding to a request from the National Ambulance Service, Mayo Mountain Rescue Team members, along with paramedics, were transported to the scene by local farmers and the casualty’s family.

Mayo Mountain Rescue and the National Ambulance Service worked together to secure the man safely before the arrival of the Irish Coast Guard's Rescue 118 helicopter.

The man was successfully airlifted to Mayo University Hospital.

In a statement, Mayo Mountain Rescue thanked the National Ambulance Service, Rescue 118, the man's family and local farmers for their assistance and wished the man a speedy recovery. The incident marked Mayo Mountain Rescue Team's 19th call-out of 2024.
