Major Mayo town housing project is approved

Planning has been approved for the 87-home development.
Planning permission has been granted for a major Mayo housing development.
Mayo County Council has approved an amended plan for a new 87-home development in Snugboro, Castlebar.
The proposed amendment applies to 38 of the previously permitted two-storey dwellings.
They are to be replaced with 42 two-storey dwellings, consisting of eight three-bedroom semi-detached houses, 34 three-bedroom terraced houses), four two-bedroom own door apartments and four one-bedroom own door apartments.
The previous application was for 79 homes on the same site.
The local authority has given the green light for the development, subject to 21 conditions.
