Just 12 houses to rent in three quarters of county Mayo

There are just 12 houses and nine apartments to rent in East, South and North Mayo, according to the Daft.ie website.
Two-thirds of the 61 available properties are in the west of the county in Castlebar, Breaffy, Westport and Achill with just 21 houses and apartments in the rest of the region.
There is also just one house and two apartments to rent in Ballina and just six houses and two apartments, in total in the wider North Mayo region.
A breakdown of the other North Mayo properties shows there are houses in Killala, Ballycastle, Bunnahowen, Belmullet and Bangor Erris.
East Mayo has a notable scarcity of seven rental properties, which comprises of just two houses and five apartments.
There is an apartment and a house advertised in Charlestown, two apartments and a house in Ballyhaunis and one apartment in Foxford and Kiltimagh respectively.
South Mayo has just five properties with four houses advertised in the Roundfort, Cong, Balla and Claremorris areas and one apartment in Balla.
There are a total of 36 houses and 25 apartments advertised in county Mayo.
Westport accounts for 14 of these with seven houses and seven apartments, while there are 15 house and 10 apartments in the Castlebar area.
The average price of the 36 houses advertised in Mayo is €1,446, a significant 24% jump on the price of houses listed in the county on the same website 10 months ago.
The average price of 20 houses advertised on March 13, 2023 was €283 less at €1,163, while the cost of a typical apartment in the county is now 3% or €32 more at €1051 than it was then.
