Housing works welcomed after 35 houses lay idle in Mayo estate

Cllr Richard Finn welcomed the progress.

Progress on the refurbishment of vacant social housing units in Knock has been welcomed.

Cllr Richard Finn told last week's meeting of Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District that it was wonderful to see work under way on 16 houses in Churchfield Lawns, Knock.

“There were 35 houses lying absent with only four residents in this estate. It is great to see something being done,” he said.

“The approved housing body involved with this project was very negligent in running that estate. We can’t have houses lying idle in the middle of a housing crisis and I’m delighted to see it up and running at long last.”

Cllr Finn added that the other section of the estate is due to start after the first phase is completed and he is looking forward to seeing this progress.
