Fundraiser for Mayo man injured in ‘freak accident’

A fundraiser has been established for a Ballina man who suffered a serious eye injury.

Ballina man James O’Neill sustained the injury while helping a friend tile his home last week The ‘freak accident’ resulted in James requiring extensive eye surgery.

He remains in hospital and does not know if he will regain the sight in his right eye. James had planned to establish his own business in the New Year.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by the twin sister of James’ partner to help pay his medical expenses and support his family during this difficult time.

More than €3,500 of the €5,000 target has been donated just 24 hours after the page was set up.
