Eleven young people from Mayo attend national leadership conference

Eleven young people from Mayo attend National Foróige Leadership Conference. 

The annual National Foróige Leadership for Life Youth Conference was held at Maynooth University over the last week. There were over 300 delegates involved who learned valuable skills to strengthen their leadership skills.

Eleven young people from across Mayo were included in the conference. The conference welcomed a line-up of guest speakers including Ray Goggins, Jack Woolley and Imelda May, who inspired delegates in their own ways.

Their communication and teamwork skills were also improved through interactive workshops and practical activities. They also explored issues affecting young people today while building friendships that extended beyond their own counties and countries.

The Programme was developed in 2009 and is open to young people aged 15–18. Participants are nominated by Foróige staff, volunteers and educators who recognise their leadership potential from their local clubs.

This engaging environment creates a unique opportunity for media to engage directly with young people about the issues that matter to them the most. These include leadership, mental health, community, and global challenges.
