Disability Resource Fair in Ballina

Disability Resource Fair in Ballina

The inaugural North Mayo Connect Disability Resource Fair in Ballina later this week will be the first of its kind to take place in County Mayo.

Mayo North East, Ballina Autism Friendly Town and Mayo Disabled Persons Organisation (DPO) have come together to present the fair in Ballina Community Sports Centre, just off Cathedral Road, on Friday, September 26, where information will be shared with parents of children with disabilities and for adults who live with disabilities. There is no admission charge.

Taking place from 10am to 1pm, the fair will showcase the wide range of supports available to disabled people and their families. From statutory services and charities to local voluntary groups and social enterprises, it will highlight what’s on offer, create opportunities to connect and spark collaboration across the region.

34 exhibitors will take part, while speakers throughout the morning will include representatives of Healy Law LLP, AsIAM, Mindspace, Family Carers Ireland, WorkAbility and Mayo DPO.

There will be exhibition stands with information from service providers and community groups, breakout talks with guest speakers on key issues and a sensory space. Refreshments will also be provided for attendees.

The organisers see this as a milestone event for North Mayo and beyond, providing both practical information and a chance to open up important conversations around inclusion and support.
