Two-year ban for speeding
A driver was caught breaching the speed limit on two occasions.
Medglion Muntean, 66 Lakeview, Castlebar failed to appear before Ballina District Court on speeding charges.
Gda James O’Reilly told the court the entry and exit average speed cameras on the N5 at Lislackagh West, Swinford, detected a car travelling at an average speed of 110km/h at 3.18am on October 1, 2025. The speed limit is 100km/h.
The same vehicle was then detected at 2.58am on November 25, 2025, travelling at an average speed of 119km/hr in the same location.
Gda O’Reilly presented photo evidence of both offences and proof of postage of the fine to the defendant. Sgt Shane Kelleher handed in proofs that Muntean was the registered owner of the vehicle. The defendant has one previous conviction for speeding.
Judge Ciaran Liddy said he was satisfied the facts were proven. He imposed a two-year driving ban and fines of €700.
