Court pays tribute to a 'wonderful lady'
Tributes were paid to Pauline O'Grady at Castlebar District Court.
Shock and sadness were among the emotions expressed by members of the legal profession when paying tribute to the late Pauline O’Grady (nee O’Malley) who passed recently.
Leading the tributes at Castlebar District Court was Gary Mulchrone, on behalf of the Mayo Solicitors Bar Association, who said colleagues of the late Pauline were saddened when news of her sudden passing came through.
Mr Mulchrone said Pauline, who was predeceased by her husband Patrick, was always cheerful and wearing a smile which made her such a popular member of the Courts Service staff in Castlebar.
“It was with shock and sadness the news of her passing reached us and we would like to extend our sincere condolences to Pauline’s daughters Claire, Marie, Niamh, Patrica and son Paul.”
Mr Mulchrone said it was also heartbreaking news for her colleagues in the Courts Service as she had only retired just over a year ago.
Mr Diarmuid Connolly said Pauline was well known to the legal profession and was a person whose kind and courteous nature was very much appreciated by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Judge Patricia Cronin, who was the stand-in judge at the sitting, said she may not have known Pauline, but she could clearly see from the tributes just how popular and well-respected she was amongst her colleagues and those involved in the legal profession.
Garda Inspector David Tiernan, on behalf of An Garda Síochána, and Emma Corley, on behalf of the Courts Service staff, also joined in the tributes to Pauline, who was described as wonderful lady who raised the spirits of those who were fortunate to have met her.
