The 2026 Lady of the Moy will be crowned at the Great National Hotel on Friday, July 3, as the long-running competition celebrates its 62nd year.

The winner will go on to represent Ballina at this year's Ballina Salmon Festival, and will serve as an ambassador for the town at a range of community events throughout the year, including at the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

2025 Lady of the Moy, Alanna O’Connor, has encouraged women with an interest in taking part to enter the competition, describing the experience as much more than a contest.

She said taking part offers an opportunity to make new friendships, step outside of your comfort zone and grow in confidence.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming crowning ceremony, Alanna said taking part in the Lady of the Moy was “an absolutely amazing experience” that allowed her to make lifelong memories with the other women involved.

Reflecting on her year in the role, Alanna said it had been “one of the best experiences” of her life and added that she was grateful for the opportunity to serve as Lady of the Moy.

“It has allowed me to grow so much in confidence and just made me appreciate everything that our town has to offer, and the great community that we have here.

“It has also been such an honour to represent the town for the year, and I have created memories that I will cherish forever,” she said.

With just over a week to go until the event, the competition remains open to entrants who would like to take part.

More information is available by contacting the Lady of the Moy on Instagram and Facebook or by emailing theladyofthemoy@gmail.com.
