Councillor welcomes progress on vacant council houses in Ballina

Cllr John O'Hara

A councillor has welcomed a report showing that Ballina Municipal District is working on vacant council houses.

Cllr John O'Hara made his comments at the June meeting of the local authority after councillors were provided with an update on the 2026 Works Programme. It stated that there was a budget of €329,173 for general repairs to local authority houses as well as €44,008 for estate management and amenity grants. The report also noted that works are "ongoing on all vacant properties which are now at various stages from tender to nearing completion".

Cllr O'Hara noted: "It is good to see houses being offered all the time, and a good sign that work is going on. It is also good to see contractors on these houses and great for the town. It makes the estates look a lot better when these properties are painted.”
