Councillor seeks update on long-awaited footpath at school

Cllr Marie-Therese Duffy

A Ballina councillor has asked Mayo County Council whether a footpath sought at Culleens National School on the Killala Road is to be put in place.

At the June meeting of Ballina Municipal District, Cllr Marie Therese Duffy said a footpath has been sought for several years at the school, whether under the Active Travel or Safe Routes to School programme. However, no successful application had been secured to date, and she wished to know whether the council was submitting its own application for funding.

Area engineer Teresa Durkin agreed to furnish a response from the council for the next meeting.
