Councillor seeks cutting of overgrown verges on busy road

A Ballina councillor has requested that Mayo County Council carry out work as soon as possible to trim the many overgrown verges along the Knockmore/Pontoon Road.

Cllr Annie May Reape told last week's meeting of Ballina Municipal District that she has received calls on the matter, including from Bus Éireann.

“The R310 is a very narrow road, and we need to get the verges trimmed. This is happening on national roads but the sideroads also need to be done. There seems to be more growth than in previous years.”

Area engineer Teresa Durkin said the council will have a look along the R310 and at specific parts referred to by Cllr Reape.
