Councillor calls for safety works on North Mayo road

Cllr Marie-Therese Duffy

There has been a call for safety works at Laghtadawannagh in Ballina.

The matter was raised by Cllr Marie Therese Duffy at last week's municipal meeting who called for road edge lining, signage at the sharp bend and additional safety measures. She also asked that the council prioritise the road for strengthening works in next year’s budget.

Cllr Duffy was supported by Cllrs Annie May Reape, John O’Hara and Jarlath Munnelly.

Area Engineer Teresa Durkin said "an investigation of the L1540 Laghtadawannagh is currently in progress, and its findings will inform any future works".
