Council is set to meet housing targets

Mayo County Council is meeting its targets as set down by the Department of Housing, a senior official has stated.

Director of Services for Housing Catherine McConnell was speaking at a recent meetig of the council's strategic policy committee (SPC) for housing where she provided an update on the local authority's Capital Housing Programme.

“The target set for this year in terms of new unit delivery through a variety of methods, including in conjunction with approved housing bodies, is 169 and we are on target to meet that. These include 88 houses in Castlebar Municipal District (MD), 23 in Ballina MD, 45 in Claremorris-Swinford MD and 13 in Westport-Belmullet MD.”

Ms McConnell added that in 2027 and 2028 the target increases to 190.

"We are satisfied we will be on target to deliver that as well," she noted.
