Connect Cafe

Mayo County Council Arts Service invites members of the public to attend Connect Café - A Cultural Companions Conversation, taking place on Wednesday, May 27, from 12 noon to 2.30pm at The Ellison Hotel, Castlebar.

Connect Cafés are organised gatherings designed to bring people together to start meaningful conversations. Their aim is to strengthen connections with ourselves, with others, and with our communities, supporting wellbeing and social inclusion.

The event will include lunch and tea/coffee, with participants invited to take part in open discussions around connection, creativity, and the role of arts and culture as we age.

Benefits of attending include: Enhancing connections with others; Making new social connections; Experiencing a sense of community and belonging; Having space for open and meaningful conversation; Learning about the importance of connection; Reducing isolation and loneliness; Deepening understanding of self and others; Exploring the benefits of arts and culture in later life.

Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts Initiative, comprising a network of older people interested in arts and culture who attend events together as a group. The Mayo Cultural Companions programme aims to increase opportunities for older people to engage with Mayo’s vibrant arts and cultural scene.

Cultural Companions is supported by Mayo County Council Arts Service and Mayo Age Friendly, and funded by Healthy Mayo. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.
