Concern as potholes go without repair in Ballina district
Councillors in the Ballina Municipal District are concerned that potholes are not being repaired in recent weeks.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael Loftus told last week's meeting of Ballina Municipal District that Mayo County Council’s pothole-repair machine had broken down and work was not being done as a result.
“We need pressure on to sort this out,” he said.
Fine Gael Cllr Jarlath Munnelly said potholes had not been repaired for a number of weeks and the work going undone was really noticeable at this time of year.
In response to a further query from Cllr Munnelly regarding ongoing works at Georges Street in Killala, municipal district engineer Orla Bourke said she expects footpaths and gullies to be worked on before the end of December and for the work to continue in the new year.
