Claremorris Chamber offers a shared vision of prosperity

The Claremorris Chamber of Commerce hosted a well-attended event entitled Growing Business and Community on Friday, October 3rd, at the McWilliam Park Hotel. Over 100 local business leaders, community organisations and representatives from various sectors gathered for an evening of insightful discussions focused on fostering business growth and strengthening community.

In her welcoming address, Chamber President, Andrea Kean, encouraged all present to get involved in the ongoing rejuvenation efforts of the Claremorris Chamber. She highlighted the importance of community involvement in driving the local economy forward.

The first panel discussion, which consisted of three local business owners, offered valuable insights into the advantages of doing business in Claremorris. Suzanne Carney from Anatomy Physiotherapy, Brendan Mellet of Mellet Electrical, and Past-President Jimmy Flynn from Flynn’s Pharmacy shared their experiences and discussed the benefits of engaging with the Chamber. They touched on how networking and community support have been instrumental to their business growth and success.

The second panel, the main event of the evening, showcased Gerry and Gearoid Concannon from CBE, a Claremorris-based success story that has expanded nationally and internationally. They were joined by John Magee, Head of Enterprise from the Local Enterprise Office, Mayo, and Margaret Charleton from Enterprise Ireland, both of whom offered invaluable perspectives on the support available for businesses in Mayo and the wider region. Their discussion highlighted key strategies for scaling businesses, navigating challenges, and tapping into local and national resources to foster long-term success.

Representatives from local financial institutions, including AIB, Bank of Ireland, Credit Union and Hasting Insurance were also present, underscoring their ongoing commitment to supporting businesses and community initiatives in the area.

The evening was deemed a resounding success, with many attendees praising the Chamber’s efforts to unite local business and community leaders under a shared vision of prosperity. The Chamber’s renewed focus on reactivating its role in Claremorris has been warmly welcomed by the local business community, and many attendees left with a renewed sense of optimism about the town’s future.
