Castlebar Celtic pay tribute to the late Jeff Redmond 

The county town is in mourning following the passing of soccer legend Jeff Redmond.

He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the staff in Ross Suite, Sacred Heart Hospital, Castlebar.

Jeff played with Castlebar Celtic throughout the 1960s and 1970s and was a star of the great Celtic team of the 1970s, winning a Connacht Cup in 1964.

In a post on social media, the club said: "All at Castlebar Celtic are saddened at the news of Jeff's passing . We send sincere condolences to his wife Joan, sons Barry, Jeffrey and Colin, daughter Tracy & his brother Joe. May he rest in peace."

Predeceased by his parents Joe and Catherine, brothers Vinnie, Andy and Aidan, sisters Sr. Josephine and Ena O’Donnell, he is deeply regretted by his loving wife Joan, sons Barry, Jeffrey and Colin, daughter Tracy, brother Ecy (Joseph), daughters-in-law Kathleen, Nora and Helen, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Jeff will repose at his residence (F23 HN84) on Saturday (December 23) from 5pm to 7pm. (House private please at all other times). 

Removal on Sunday morning at 11am to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon (via McHale road). 

Jeff will be laid to rest afterwards in Castlebar New Cemetery.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
