Camper van waste has become an issue at Mayo beach
Cllr Jarlath Munnelly has called on Mayo Co Council to install facilities allowing camper van users to dispose of their toilet waste.
Speaking at last week's Ballina Municipal District meeting, Cllr Munnelly called for the installation of a “receptacle” to allow camper vans to empty their toilet waste directly into the sewer. He said a lot of waste is currently disposed of in the toilets at Ross Beach which is not appropriate, noting that purchasing and connecting a unit would not be a big cost for the council.
Head of Ballina district Declan Turnbull agreed to discuss the issue further with Cllr Munnelly.
