Calls for progress on urgent footpath works in Mayo area

A Mayo councillor has appealed to Mayo County Council progress proposed plans for the extension of a footpath from a local housing development towards Castlebar Golf Club.
Fine Gael's Cyril Burke has called on the local authority to expedite the plans for the continuation of the footpath from Lios Na Circe.
A motion on the issue comes before this week's July meeting of Castlebar Municipal District.
Cllr Burke said the Milebush and Belcarra Road areas of the county town are developing quickly and are now in need of supports such as footpaths leading to houses and other amenities.
Cllr Burke also wants the council to consider works to replace some of the broken footpaths on the left hand side after the traffic lights on the Breaffy Road.
