Body recovered from river in Ballina yesterday evening

A body was recovered from the River Moy by members of the Grainne Uaile Search and Recovery Unit in Ballina.

The alarm had been raised after a person was seen entering the water close to the jetty in the north Mayo town around 7.30pm yesterday evening.

Members of the Grainne Uaile unit attended the scene with emergency services.

An underwater search was carried out and the person’s body was recovered from the water.
