Bands to unite in Mayo for Bastille Day celebrations
Well-known Mayo band The Rambling Rogues are among those on the line-up in Claremorris this coming Saturday night.
A night of rock and traditional Irish music will take place in Claremorris this Saturday, July 13 to mark Bastille Day. On stage at The Dalton Inn will be Rambling Rogues, Silver Circus, Out n Outer and French rock band Lot 49.
The connection between these Irish and French musicians and singers was established 16 years ago by the late Jean Marc Vogt who was also a member of Lot 49. Marc’s sister Marie spent one year as a French teacher in St Colman’s College in Claremorris and the connection between South Mayo and Ruelisheim in France has remained extremely strong ever since, with many people from both areas enjoying numerous nights of music and song together.
Rambling Rogues, the South Mayo folk and trad group, are delighted to be part of the entertainment to celebrate Bastille Night. Maria Hughes and Sharon McCabe from Hollymount, Michelle Rattigan from Irishtown and Paul Clesham from Roundfort, launched their debut album all of 13 years ago and have appeared on TV3 and TG4 as well as many radio stations nationally.
Silver Circus are looking forward to joining the many bands on the night. The original Silver Circus line-up (2004) comprised of Niall Hughes, Jack Grimes, Dan Egan and Rickie O’ Neill, with Ben Duffy joining the band on the night.
Out n Outer hail from the Roscommon area will perform on the night also. Luke Coffey, Enda Regan and Eoin Catterall will be joined by Niall Hughes and they are no strangers to Mayo having performed on many occasions with their friends.
Lot 49 are so well known in Donegal and Sligo in particular, having performed and entertained at many festivals. They have a very busy schedule of gigs in France but are delighted to be in Claremorris, a place that holds many fond memories, to perform for Bastille Night. They will perform both originals and songs from artists like Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher and Eric Clapton.
Tickets are €10 and the concert starts at 7.30pm.
