Ballina Designer wins silver at prestigious Garden Festival
Ballina Designer Dr Sarah Cotterill of Wild Atlantic Gardens
A Ballina-based garden designer has won a silver medal at the prestigious RHS Hampton Court this morning (Monday July 1st).
Dr. Sarah Cotterill, of Wild Atlantic Gardens, was one of just 9 successful entrants to the resilient pocket planting category following an extremely competitive application process. The Ripple Effect Rain Garden was awarded a silver medal.
The garden highlights the beauty of water resilient gardens that can cope with oceanic climates in the west of Ireland which experience ever increasing rainfall levels due to climate change.

The resilient pocket planting category is a new category for up and coming garden designers. The garden was sponsored by the Ice House Hotel and will be rebuilt at All Hallows Convent in Ballina on completion of the show.
The garden is part of the building's regeneration and landscaping plans and will be one of several means to collect and divert rainwater away from the building.
RHS Hampton Court is the largest annual flower show in the world and runs from Tuesday July 2nd - Sunday July 7th.
