Ballina Cathaoirleach backs Healthy Mayo campaign

Cathaoirleach of Ballina Municipal District Cllr Annie May Reape was recently presented with a Healthy Mayo jacket by Anne Fahey Ronayne, Healthy Mayo Coordinator with Mayo County Council, in recognition of her commitment to promoting health, wellbeing and community engagement throughout Ballina and County Mayo.

Delivered by Mayo County Council under the national Healthy Ireland Framework, the Healthy Mayo Programme works collaboratively with local communities, elected members, statutory agencies, public services, sporting organisations, community and voluntary groups, educational providers, businesses and other stakeholders to improve health and wellbeing across County Mayo. The programme recognises that health is shaped not only by healthcare services but also by the social, economic and environmental conditions in which people are born, live, learn, work and age. Through partnership and community-led action, Healthy Mayo seeks to reduce health inequalities and create healthier, more inclusive communities for everyone.

Cllr Reape said: "I am delighted to support a programme that is making a real difference across our communities. Healthy Mayo is about ensuring that everyone, regardless of where they live or their circumstances, has the opportunity to enjoy good health and wellbeing. By working together with local communities and partner organisations, we can help reduce inequalities, strengthen community connections and ensure that no one is left behind. Through collaboration across sectors, the programme strengthens local capacity, addresses the wider determinants of health and contributes to the vision of a healthier, more equitable County Mayo where everyone can live, work, learn and thrive.
