In aid of Men’s Mental Health Week which took place in June, Penneys Ballina hosted its first mixed soccer blitz in the ‘Battle of the Minds’. Four teams from around the town competed on the day, including from Penneys, Dunnes Stores, The Gym and the Ballina Community Clean up Committee.

The weather of the day may have been overcast but spirits certainly weren't, with all donations raised on the day split between Men’s Mental Health (Mayo), Men’s Shed and Order of Malta.

The organisers wish to thank all those who participated and showed up to support the event which it’s hoped will become a permanent fixture on the annual sporting calendar in order to highlight a very important topic.

Members of the Ballina Community Clean Up group also took part in the blitz in Belleek.

A particular thanks is extended to Ballina Town FC for the use of their facilities, to Gerry Kenny Sports and to the Order of Malta.

Dunnes Stores were another locally based business who entered a team into what it's hoped will become an annual competition.
