Enda Hession returns to the Mayo team for Sunday’s Connacht SFC semi-final against Roscommon. The Garrymore man is named at left half-back in place of Eoghan McLaughlin who is not named among the substitutes.

Nor is there a place in the match-day 26 for Diarmuid O’Connor who manager Kevin McStay had said, prior to Mayo’s opening game against New York, was very close to fitness. The Ballintubber man has not played since injuring his hamstring against Tyrone in Round 4 of the National Football League.

Jordan Flynn, who also did not feature against New York, does return to the substitutes bench.

In a positional switch, David McBrien moves from midfield to centre-back with Stephen Coen selected to partner Matthew Ruane in the middle of the park.

Paddy Durcan will captain Mayo in what will be his 101st league and championship appearance. Sean Hurson of Tyrone is the match referee.

Mayo (v Roscommon): Colm Reape; Jack Coyne, Rory Brickenden, Sam Callinan; Paddy Durcan, David McBrien, Enda Hession; Stephen Coen, Matthew Ruane; Bob Tuohy, Fergal Boland, Jack Carney; Aidan O’Shea, Tommy Conroy, Ryan O’Donoghue.
