Mayo man breaks national record at Strongest Man competition
The Mayo man has recorded another remarkable achievement in the sport.
Mayo strong man Cillein Groom has broken a national record at the Ireland’s Strongest man competition.
The Ballina man, known as ‘The Giant Killer’ has now made it six consecutive years on the podium in the competition. His former school St Muredach’s College heaped praise on the achievement their past pupil.
“Cillein showed incredible grit and resilience to claim third place in this year’s competition. An amazing result that will go proudly alongside his winning titles in 2023 and 2024,” said the secondary school in a post on social media.
As well as securing third place in the competition, the musclebound Mayo man broke the national record the for the Axle Clean and Press with a hugely impressive 200kg lift.
“His determination and drive are an inspiration to us all and we couldn’t be prouder!” St Muredach’s added.
