Man (60s) seriously injured following assault in Co Laois

A man has been left with serious injuries following an assault in Portarlington, Co Laois, in the early hours of Sunday.

The incident occurred on main street at 2026 at approximately 1:15 am.

A man in his 60s was brought to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A man in his 40s was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda Station in Co Laois.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage (including dash-cam) who were in the area of Main Street, Portarlington, Co. Laois between 12:45 am and 1:30 am on Sunday.
