A man who died following a serious road traffic collision in Co Kerry has been named locally as Mhlanguli Brian Moyo, 45, from Zimbabwe.

The two-vehicle crash occurred on the N22 near Dromadeesirt at approximately 6.40pm on Saturday evening.

Mhlanguli Brian Moyo was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car, a man in his 30s, was treated at the scene before being taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Paying tribute in a statement released through Amai Malawi Ireland, his family said: "It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother-in-law, Mr Mhlanguli Brian Moyo, husband to our sister Fishani Kumwenda, originally from Zimbabwe.

"The Association of Malawians will work closely with the Zimbabwean community in coordinating matters related to this loss. Further details will be communicated in due course. May his soul rest in eternal peace’’.

His wife Fishani posted on social media: "A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.’’

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N22 near Dromadeesirt between 6:20pm and 6:50pm on Saturday January 10th are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
