A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with an investigation into a road traffic collision which resulted in a cyclist sustaining serious injuries in Co Kerry.

The cyclist, who is in his 40s, was seriously injured following a collision with a car on the Oakpark Road in Tralee on Wednesday.

The cyclist was conveyed to University Hospital Kerry for treatment.

The road has since been reopened.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to witnesses to this collision to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066 7102300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Oakpark Road between 6:45am and 7:15am on Wednesday are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
