The fight lived up to expectations, with both men staying composed on their feet despite a near-fight-changing sequence from Lopes (26-7 MMA) by dropping Volkanovski (27-4 MMA) in the final seconds of Round 2.

Jones (28-1-0) paid his respects to Miocic after the fight on Saturday, admiring his toughness.

The 35-year-old Irishman has been out of action since breaking his leg, but was due to top the bill at UFC 303 on June 29.

It will be his first fight since 2021, when he lost to Dustin Porier after he suffered a broken leg during the bout.
