It is understood that climbing gear belonging to the man was found on the sea cliffs at about 11.30pm on Thursday.

A search operation was launched after a report of a male in difficulty in the water near Laytown on Friday evening.

The man, who was in his late 40s, took seriously ill on the mountain around midday on Saturday.

The yacht was located south of Lambay Island.
