Food inflation rose by 4.6% since June of last year, more than double that of the general Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Energy prices are estimated to have decreased by 5.8% over the 12 months to July.

The biggest prices increases in the year to May were in the transport and hotel & restaurant sectors

This compares with inflation of 2.3 per cent in Ireland in the 12 months to February 2024 and an annual increase of 2.6 per cent in the HICP for the Eurozone in the same period.
