The collision took place on the N24 near Grange West, Boher, Co Limerick

The probe focused on alleged unlawful garda interference in the prosecution of fixed charge penalty notices in respect of pending or potential motoring offences.

Gardaí said on Friday that they were investigating an arson attack at a home in Castleconnell, situated about 15kms from Limerick City.
