The judge recused himself from the remainder of the proceedings after a barrister made claims of bias and sabotage against him.

The mosque attached to the foundation’s centre, a major place of worship for the Irish Muslim community, has been closed since the onset of the dispute last year.

A dispute over control of the Al Maktoum Foundation CLG, which owns the centre in Clonskeagh, Dublin, reached the court last month when Mr Justice Brian Cregan was told it had arisen out of the alleged unlawful appointment of new directors to the foundation company.
