Roads in many parts of the country are treacherous on Monday morning after temperatures dipped to as low as minus six degrees in some places.

The orange wind warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow, and Munster is set to expire at 4pm on Friday, as throusands remain without power.

Snowfall is possible this evening and overnight, alongside poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions
